Sherwood gave Orioles an early 1-0 lead after scoring from a breakaway in the first few minutes. And Orioles continued to dominate play for the rest of the half as Sherwood added a second shortly before the interval to make it 2-0.
Canaries struggled to make their mark on the game but continued to fight and got some reward when Georgi Barbosa scored their only goal near the end.
But with time running out Sherwood sealed Orioles' victory with her final goal from close in.
In addition to Sherwood, Orioles were also well served by goalkeeper Fiona Doe.
The top B Division teams, Orioles and Canaries, battled for first place as the first half of the season drew to a close, but had to settle for a share of the points.
Most of the early play was evenly fought with both teams intent on attacking.
But Orioles took the lead with a goal from Liz Adderley five minutes before the half only to see Ali Cameron squeeze home the equaliser for Canaries a minute before the final whistle.
