Nick Kyme. the Island's top-ranked junior, picked up the team's first victory when when he defeated Kenya's number one, Haras Bains 3-2 (10-9, 8- 10, 9-4, 2-9, 9-5). Kyme recovered from a 3-8 deficit to win the first set, the squandeered a 7-2 lead to lose the second.

In other consolation bracket matches on Monday, Bermuda's number two, Derek Wheeler, lost to Ahmed Al-Dhubaib of Kuwait 1-3 (9-5, 2-9, 0-9, 0-9) while Michael Stout was beaten by New Zelander Douglas Carmichael 4-9, 2-9, 0-9.

That left Bermuda's record at 1-10 after three days of the tournament agianst older, more experienced and more aggressive players.

Earlier, Kyme lost to Shawn Madden of New Zeladn 0-3 and to Chris Davis of Wales 1-3. Stout was blanked by Matteo Nicolo of Italy and Mansoor Zamen of Pakistan; Wheeler lost to Daniel Knoweles of Scottland and Leon Beamna of New Zealand, 0-3; and Bartoli was beaten by Malaysia's Ricky Lee and Germany's Stefan Oppolzer 0-3.
