Judges have had to warn juries about the danger of convicting with uncorroborated sex allegations.

But under new legislation -- which comes into force on June 1 -- this requirement will be removed.

The move is part of a Government shake-up of the Island's sex offence laws.

The changes are aimed at cracking down on sex offenders.

Other changes include: Stiffer prison terms for sex offenders; Making it possible for couple to be charged with sexually assaulting each other; and Creating an offence of having sex while knowing you are infected with AIDS.

Rape will also be replaced with four categories, including sexual assault, assault by a person with a deadly disease, serious sexual assault, and aggravated sexual assault.
