Voyage offers a real challenge
racing from Spain to Bermuda as it will have physically challenged sailors amongst its crew.
The Jubilee Sailing Trust owned and operated ship also has able bodied sailors but is specially designed to allow all crew to participate in all aspects of sailing a tall ship.
There are lifts between decks to enable wheelchair users full access to the ship and a speaking compass with a large digital screen enables blind and visually impaired crew members to helm the ship.
And there is an induction loop in the lower mess deck to assist those with hearing impairments.
There will be four Bermudians on board the ship when it sails into Hamilton Harbour and six local youths will be on board when it heads off to New York.
Lord Nelson will be docked along Front Street from June 8 to 12 and will be open to the public on June 9, 10 and 11 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
It was last in Bermuda in 1989 and is participating in a tall ship race for the first time.
