Zuill to retire from Bank
Guernsey in the 1970s has announced he is retiring after nearly four decades in the job.
Cummings Zuill will stand down from his position of senior Vice President, Executive Management, on June 30 after joining the Bank 38 years ago in 1962.
Although he is retiring from the day to day duties at the Bank, he will be kept on as an independent consultant.
Henry Smith, president and chief executive officer of the Bank said: "We thank Cummings for his contributions to the Bank's success and wish him a long healthy retirement.'' During Mr. Zuill's illustrious career, he established the Bank's Guernsey subsidiary in 1973. He set up office in just two rooms in the town of St.
Peter Port where he was managing director.
Initially the Bank provided only trust facilities and banking services for its international clients, but later developed into a global entity which now employs 175 people who work in the aptly named Bermuda House.
Just a year later after his first grand opening, he had moved on to Hong Kong to open offices there, where he stayed for three years.
Mr. Zuill joined the Bank's executive management team in 1981 and since that time has played an active role in the business and charity communities on the Island.
A spokeswoman for the bank said: "Cummings joined the bank on June 2, 1962 and has had a distinguished career.
"His career focused on the development of international business both for the Bank and for Bermuda, spending his time primarily in what is now corporate banking and also private clients.'' Mr. Zuill is also a trustee and trainer at the Diversity Institute of Bermuda.
