Inevitably truth will come out in the end
After what has been announced this week about the termination of my contract as technical director, I would like to thank the people of Bermuda for their support.
Many people have come up to me and said they thought it was a strange decision and although I didn't hear it, I understand that on a radio talkshow over the festive period, most callers were on my side.
It's really nice to know how many people I've got in my corner.
But the problems with my job have not stopped me having a fantastic Christmas with my lovely family. We all understand that life has its problems, but whatever, this is the time of year to be festive and to do good deeds.
I think the most important thing about this whole affair is that the truth must come out -- and it will in the end.
My contract does not expire until March and I'm going to carry on doing my job to the best of my ability for the people of Bermuda -- because they're the ones who pay my wages. Everything I've done in football, I've not done for me, I've done it for the people of Bermuda.
I was a professional player for about 20 years and I learned that when things go against you, the good pro dusts himself down and comes back. And that's what I intend to do.
It looks like I might get one World Cup match, so I say let's just concentrate on doing the best we can for Bermuda.
I've been hearing so much about results lately from certain people. I would like to say that in sport, it is not how you play that is important, it is the results you get. And our coaching team has been superb as far as results are concerned.
Whatever happens, the game is bigger than any of us and the game must come first. And anyone in soccer in Bermuda who does not believe that should not be in the game any more.
Next month, we have confirmed a friendly match here for the senior team against Canada. It will be fantastic for our players to finally have the chance to play against opposition of such a high calibre. And I hope they will perform like they can.
