Loss of several old friends.
Unable to account for large sums of money, or mysteriously missing objects.
Desire to continue drinking when others have stopped.
Diminished interest in physical appearance.
Frequent lateness or absences from work or school.
Loss of interest in school, work, family and other hobbies.
HOW TO HELP Face up to the issue. If ignored it will get worse.
Only intervene if you know the person well. Otherwise tell someone closer.
Avoid lecturing or judging the person with the problem.
