Christmas cards with a local flair on sale now
And with the Christmas season soon upon us, the Bermuda National Trust is showcasing their Christmas cards this year for those who want to celebrate the holidays with an Island flair.
Highlighting scenes from local artwork, these locally printed cards as well as other Christmas cards, can be found at the Trustworthy shops in Hamilton and St. George's.
"Welcoming Smile'' was painted by Frank Small and dates back to the turn of the century.
The card has been reproduced by the Masterworks Foundation and sold exclusively through the Trust.
The Trust has drawn the Hibiscus flower Christmas card from its own collection. It is derived from a watercolour painted by Lady Lefroy, the wife of Bermuda's Governor (1871-1877) and historian General J.H. Lefroy.
Revenues from card sales go to preserve the Island's undeveloped virgin territory and historic buildings. The cards themselves can be purchased at "Trustworthy'' shops at 19 Queen Street, Hamilton, and the Bermuda National Trust museum shop at the Globe Hotel, King's Square, St. George's.
The cards are 90 cents each, with a 10-percent discount for purchases over 100 cards.
