The Fishbowl League started its 1993-94 season last weekend with a full complement of 14 teams.

Dolphins showed they can do it and won all four points from Piranhas who failed to live up to their motto `we eat anything'. Dolphins put together a total team effort with a 2,819 team series.

Tuna bowled the second high team series going on to win 3-1 over Barracuda with Marie Frith bowling the women's top series of 489.

Sharks beat Hinds 3-1 as Bertie Lines tried offsetting the Sharks' bite with a 529 as Norman Beek was bowling the third high game of 205 for Sharks.

Mackerel beat Rockfish 3-1 while Snappers beat Porgies 21 -11 after tying the first game with both teams bowling a 976 game. Porgies went on to win the second game while Snappers won the third and total pins for their overall win.

Arthur Flood was tops for Snappers with a 511 series while Vernon Daniels led the Porgies' effort with a 536.

Wahoo and Marlins completed the night with a 2-2 draw as Hank Corrado led the Marlins with the second high 553 series with a 203 game as team captain Larry Lombardo supported with the third series 550 and second game 207.

Leading the Wahoo effort was Doug Hines who was tops for the night with a 560 series and 220 game. Sylvia O'Connor bowled the women's top game and second high series of 484.

Angel Fish and Cow Pollies rounded out the night with a 2-2 draw as Karen Marshall bowled the women's top series of 502 for Angel Fish as Alton Lowe led the Pollies with a 519.

GOLF GLF The Bermuda Golf Association medal play round, postponed on Saturday at Belmont GC, will be played this coming Saturday instead at the same venue.

Tee-off times will be between 12.30 p.m. and 1.24 p.m. and only players who were registered for the event last weekend may play. Those unable to play because of the time change should call Tom Smith at 238-1367 before 6 p.m. A wait list will be kept to accommodate new entries if a gap occurs.

Meanwhile, local women who plan to play in the 63rd Bermuda Ladies Amateur Championships to be held at the Riddell's Bay course from October 4-8 are reminded that the cut-off date is September 27. The entry fee is $160 and the handicap limit is 24.

Entries should be mailed to the secretary at P.O. Box Hm 433, Hamilton, HM BX or delivered by hand to the BGA office.

CRICKET CRI A benefit cricket match featuring former Devonshire Recreation Club players will be held on September 26. The players listed below and others who may have been omitted are asked to confirm their interest by phoning either Ambrose Simons (236-0675), Lionel Jones (236-4472) or Carlton (Pepe) Dill (238-1452).

Light refreshments will be served after the match and, as it is a charity, each player is expected to contribute $20.
