Doctor wins new court date in US

returned to the US to face charges that he breached a community control order imposed for having unlawful sex with a 15-year-old girl.

Dr. George Miller, who waived extradition proceedings three weeks ago to return to Florida, worked for more than two years at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Miller, 32, was placed on probation and community control in 1997 in Florida when he pleaded no contest to having unlawful sex with a 15-year-old girl, who is now his wife.

He intends to ask a judge at Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, if his no contest plea can be set aside, resulting in a re-trial.

He faces a possible prison sentence for allegedly breaching his community control order by moving to Jamaica one month after he was sentenced.

At the courthouse on Monday, Dr. Miller's US attorney, John Howes, entered a plea of denial to breaching the community control charge. Dr. Miller was not present and his bail was continued.

At a future court hearing, Dr. Miller will ask for permission to have his plea of no contest set aside.
