The senior cadet corp spread out across Hamilton on December 10 for the WRC's Tag Day and helped it raise more than $6,000.

"It was a positive image for the Regiment. A sort of men's organisation helping a woman's organisation,'' said Penny Dill, WRC chairperson.

"This comes at a time when funds are low until new fund raising begins in the New Year.'' The funds raised were one of the larger contributions made to WRC during the holiday season.

The WRC was glad for the help from the Regiment and hoped that they will be able to work together in the new year.

Counselling, legal and family reunification programmes at WRC will all benefit from the money raised.

"I look at it as giving back to the community something that they may or may not have experience with,'' said Regimental Sgt. Major Brendan Millett.

"The kids set an example for their peers. If they can get one or two of them to be a part of the solution rather than the problem, then it's good.'' Cadets said they thought the day was important and were glad to help out WRC.

"It's important because abuse happens a lot. It helps to educate the public,'' said Sgt. Jennecka Stovell. "If they don't know anything about (the problem), they can't help.'' "It's nice that we can do something to help someone else. It's just a way of giving back,'' said Corp. Ryan Bean.
