Restaurant to raise money for charities
Restaurant focuses on pirates and piracy as it relates to Bermuda and around the world. Already popular with both locals and tourists, the restaurant exhibits traditional piracy paraphernalia of bygone days. The restaurant opened in mid-June, but is by no means finished, said co-owner Mrs. Sharon Nannini. "We're going to have a short season this year because we openend so late, she said. "For the first few weeks, we had to iron out any problems.
And only now can we think of what to do next. "But I have a lot of space to work with. And I want to continue on with the pirate theme,'' she said. Future plans for the restaurant include finding more pirate information to put on the walls. As well, the upstairs room, which is now empty, will be devoted to goodwill. "The main theme of the upstairs room will be piracy, but I definitely want to do something in terms of charity and goodwill,'' she said.
"I don't want a junk shop. But I was thinking of encouraging people to bring in clothes and things they no longer want -- good things. I would sell them and then donate the monies to different charities around the Island. Mrs.
Nannini said she is working on these ideas but they are by no means set in stone. "All I know is that the room will definitely be used for something in terms of goodwill,'' she noted.
