Diana fund receives $1,000 boost

Frank Gamble director of the Bermuda Red Cross said that he was pleased to see such a healthy donation being made this early in the process.
"That $1,000 is an indication of some of the feeling that is out there in our community,'' he said.
It is understood that the Bermuda Red Cross intends to make the fund an ongoing project and all money collected locally will go to raise awareness of the dangers of land mines.
Some of the money will also go to purchase prosthetic limbs for the victims of the mines where ever they are to be found.
COUPLE TARGETED BY THIEVES WHILE SWIMMING CRM Couple targeted by thieves while swimming A visiting couple were victims of thieves as they went for a swim.
A park ranger, on behalf of the elderly couple from New York, told Police the incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
The couple, who decided to go swimming at Horseshoe Bay, left their belongings on the beach. When they returned, they noticed their red shoulder bag was missing.
The bag contained various items including an undisclosed amount of cash and a camera.
THIEVES RANSACK PEMBROKE OFFICES CRM Thieves ransack Pembroke offices Two Cavendish Road, Pembroke offices became the target of thieves on Monday night.
Both the Council Partners Charitable Trust and the architectural firm Stephen West & Associates, situated in the Cardaire House, were ransacked.
Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said an undisclosed quantity of cash was reported stolen from Council Partners' offices.
Police are also investigating a theft at a Sandys Parish residence.
Mrs. James Barnett said the occupant of the Somerset Road apartment reported items of jewellery, including a gold ring and a 16-inch gold chain were stolen last Friday.

Police yesterday said the vessel was discovered underwater at Mullet Bay, St.
George's around 9.30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
The owner was contacted and subsequently made plans to have the boat refloated.
Police on patrol at St. David's during the weekend also discovered a sunken boat.
The 32-foot boat, found around 8.30 a.m., had sunk its moorings just off of Great Bay.
When contacted, the owner of the boat appeared to be fully aware of the situation, Police said. And he had plans to have it removed.
FIREFIGHTERS ALERTED AFTER BARBECUE BLAZE FIR Firefighters alerted after barbecue blaze A Paget family required the help of the Fire Service after their barbecue caught fire.
Six firefighters in a truck attended the residence on Salt Kettle Road around 5 p.m. on Monday, a Fire Service spokesman said.
The firefighters then shut off the main gas supply before extinguishing the blaze.
Damage to the barbecue was minor.
