The Fugees set to play in Bermuda
when The Fugees touch down on the Island for a concert.
The trio, composed of Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Prakazrel Michael, will perform on September 5 at National Stadium.
The show is a stop-over before the band tours the Caribbean, including visits to Trinidad and Barbados.
The group is currently riding a wave of success with their latest album The Score -- now number nine on Billboard's top albums chart -- which includes a masterful rendition of a Roberta Flack hit "Killing Me Softly''.
So popular is the group that it has been booked solid for the entire year.
"I have been trying to get them since April or May,'' local promoter Choy Aming said. "But they are busy right up until the end of the year when they intend to return to the studio.
"We bought the Caribbean tour which means that we had to start on a Thursday because I did not want to bring them in at the end of the tour,'' he said. "I wanted Bermuda to be the first stop. A Thursday night is not really too bad -- it's just like going to a movie.'' The concert will begin at 9 p.m. and will also feature some local acts.
Tickets go on sale at the Music Box and Sound Stage beginning on Wednesday.
