James suffers loss of form
Minnesota, 14-year-old Bermudian Aaron James has come back to earth with a bang.
Playing in this week's Joseph A. Bank Junior All-Star Classic at the Kissimmee Bay Country Club in Kissimmee, Florida, James -- the current Ocean View club champion -- compiled unlikely scores of 98 and 96 to finish second from last in the 40-strong field.
The event was won by Alex Hagmeyer of Naperville, Illinois, who carded 149 with rounds of 76-73 on the par 71 course.
However, James' mother Kathy, who spoke with Aaron late this week said her son was far from despondent, despite the poor result.
"If anything it's made him more determined,'' said Mrs. James.
"I think he was tired from travelling so much, it was very hot and he told me the course was very tough. He also had trouble with his driving.
"But he met (top coach) David Leadbetter and yesterday received a private lesson from one of his staff and I think he's feeling a lot more confident going into next week's tournament.'' James had won the previous week's PGA Junior Series event with rounds of 74, 80 and 76.
He is due to travel to Texas next week to play in the AJGA All-Star Classic at the Kingwood Country Club, and then onto West Palm Beach, Florida for the Optimist Worlds.
Following his victory in Minnesota he has also been invited to play at this summer's Junior Worlds in San Diego, California.
