Drugs mule launches appeal
here in rum bottles is appealing his conviction and sentence.
Clifton Hopeton Morrison, 38, of Jamaica, was convicted in July of possession of cocaine worth $90,000 and possession with intent to supply.
At the Court of Appeal yesterday, Morrison's lawyer Victoria Pearman questioned the accuracy of Police notes about when her client was under arrest.
She said at the Supreme Court trial, Police stated Morrison was arrested at the airport, but Morrison said officers stressed to him that he was not under arrest at that point.
She said the notes showed that Morrison wanted a break during the interview at which point he wanted to be taken for a ride around Bermuda. He later said he wanted to tell everything.
Ms Pearman said Puisne Judge Norma Wade-Miller should have asked why Morrison underwent this sudden change of tack.
