Bermuda's national cricket team were restricted to two hard workouts on astro turf.

They have still to play a match since arriving in the South American island over a week ago, due mainly to the wet weather.

Coach Allan Douglas said last night the players were keeping their fingers crossed, hoping for good weather today and tomorrow so as to get in two matches.

"The weather was good here today, we did a lot of work on the astro turf surface,'' said Douglas. "We saw the ground where Saturday's game is scheduled and the wicket is covered and things really look set, barring any more interruption by rain.'' Today's clash against a Combined XI will be Bermuda's first game since the 14-player squad arrived in Guyana last Friday. First to fall victim to the weather was a two-day match against a Guyana Select before two other matches also had to be scrapped because of the wet conditions.

Today's match will be a huge test for Bermuda as the Combined XI will be made up of four prominent Guyanese players who played played in the Shell/Sandals tournament.

Tomorrow's game against East Bank XI also promises to be keenly contested with the opposition expected to include senior Guyanese players.
