Parish from the league after just one season back.

The news confirms a Royal Gazette report earlier this week that the club were struggling to field a team. Parish only rejoined the league last season but with some of their players joining other clubs -- namely neighbours Bailey's Bay and Flatts -- the club had their ranks depleted. Parish's withdrawal means that only three matches will be played in the First Division, with their scheduled opponents, PHC, now having a bye.

The first round of Open matches will start at 11.00 a.m. with a one minute silence in respect of former cricketers Charles Daulphin, who will be buried on Sunday, and Amon Hunt and former Somerset and BCBC official, Keith Tucker.

With the Bailey's Bay-Police match put back to July 26 because Police are still touring Barbados, the Premier Division will have just three matches tomorrow.

St. George's, runners-up in both divisions last season, travel west to meet Southampton Rangers at Southampton Oval. St. George's have boosted their middle order with the signing of allrounder Lionel Cann and the return of Clevie Wade, while Lewis Foggo will fill in behind the stumps in the absence of Dean Minors who is still in school.

Captain Clay Smith warmed up for the new season last weekend with a knock of 87 in a Cup Match trial and he is a key man at the top of the St. George's order.

Rangers, relegated in the Overs League last season, have the nucleus of their team back and will rely once again on the likes of Keith Wainwright, Janeiro Tucker and Olin Jones.

Devonshire Rec. also host strong opponents in their season opener when they welcome Willow Cuts to the Den.

The home team have picked up a couple of new players in Lyle Millett from PHC and JaJa Millett from the youth team, who are not in the league this season.

Willow Cuts have much the same squad this season and will be looking to groom a few youngsters, according to long time captain Dexter Basden.

Overs League champions Western Stars are also on the road tomorrow, travelling to Wellington Oval to meet Cleveland. On what looked a good batting strip, Cleon Scotland scored the first century of the season last weekend and the wicket should provide plenty of runs.

The two top teams in the seven-team First Division will square off right away when St. David's host Eastern Counties rivals Flatts.

The Islanders will rely on the likes of Allen Richardson, Shea Pitcher and player-coach Graham Fox to bring along some promising youngsters while Flatts will look to their own player-coach Dwayne Leverock to blend their team together.

In the other matches Somerset meet Somerset Bridge in a west end derby at Somerset while Social Club take on Warwick at Nationals.
