Commercial teams in goal feast
a pair of Commercial Division make-up matches.
The night opened in rousing fashion with a Group A clash that saw Lobster Pot at one time seemingly set to maul Devonshire Colts All-Stars, then struggle, before finally winning handily.
Pot took a 2-0 lead in the first half on scores by Russ Abbot and Tim Brown and increased the advantage to three moments following the restart behind a Mike Evans tally.
But All-Stars stormed back to level matters midway through the second half, with goals from Larry Benjamin, Darren Lewis and Jeff Richardson.
However, the comeback sapped All-Stars' energy supply and Pot again took the lead role, smashing three quick strikes through Gladstone Grant and Tony Smith (two).
The final score read 6-3, which allowed Pot to move up one place to sixth, while All-Stars remained deep in the relegation zone in eighth on 13 points, a scant two points ahead of MR Onions, who currently occupy the second relegation spot -- Forties have already been confirmed for the drop.
Meanwhile, the nightcap featuring Devonshire Lions and Exiles provided its share of excitement, as the home side easily disposed of the visitors 5-1.
Lions took the lead early through Ernest McCallum, whose 20-yard blast barely eluded the fingertips of goalkeeper Lyndon Raynor, dipping under the crossbar by inches.
Moments later Lyle Millett rose high over two defenders to head home a left-wing corner that gave Raynor no chance, while a mix-up between centre-back Chris Cook and the 'keeper let McCallum in for his second score minutes prior to the break.
Exiles showed signs of awakening in the second half, reducing the deficit to two as Hugh Hollis scored against the run of play, getting behind the defence and coolly slotting home.
Nevertheless, they promised only to deceive, as Lions substitute Glanville DeShields and midfielder Donald Norford closed out matters with two late goals.
Lions jumped over Prison Officers into sixth spot with the win, while Exiles remained eighth.
