Talent 1992 took her prize trip to Orlando recently.

And her success in the pageant may have led to ten Miss Bermuda Islands contestants entering the talent category this year.

Miss Williams, a 21-year-old Devonshire woman, was Miss Bermuda Islands runner-up and Miss Talent last year, and took the trip that was her prize.

In Orlando, she had a screen and talent test at Jericho Company Inc., then went on to do radio interviews at two top Orlando radio stations.

In between her chaperone-planned business and social activities she said: "I hardly saw the hotel.'' Miss Williams described her three chaperones -- Mr. Dickey Haisley of Jericho Company Inc.. a talent agency; Mr. Clark Smith, a Bermudian man in Orlando and Mr. Arthur English -- as very hospitable.

Special praise was reserved for Ms Freda Mays, who escorted Miss Williams throughout her stay. "She really took care of me,'' said Miss Williams.

Throughout the entire visit, Miss Williams said she was treated like a VIP.

"I was treated like a queen,'' she said.

She said DJs at the top nightclubs she visited announced her name along with other celebrities.

She said she also met many celebrities like NBA players from Atlanta and some of the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The main advantage of her visit was the exposure to help Miss Williams' young singing career.

On the Caribbean radio station WHOO95, she was interviewed and sang on air a reggae version of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me''. She was also interviewed at 102-FM JAMS, the top rhythm `n' blues station in Orlando, where she also introduced that week's number two song.

Miss Williams said Jericho was impressed with her performance and interview.

She said Mr. Haisley told her: "You make me want to slap you -- why did you stay in Bermuda all this time?'' Miss Williams said she came back to the Island with a few possibilities for contracts. She has had offers in the past but nothing has really worked out.

This time, she said, she's prepared to play the politics of the entertainment world.

This year's Miss Talent winner will get the same prize -- a weekend in Orlando, a screen test at Jericho and spots on local radio.
