Arriving in England last Saturday, the Bermuda team found themselves playing almost immediately at the Thanet Squash Club in Kent. And their fatigue was reflected in the results with the players managing only two victories out of seven matches.

Youngster Daniele Bortoli put up a spirited performance but lost in four games against a player three years his senior.

The following day, Bermuda took on a team from the Canterbury Squash Club, winning narrowly four matches to three.

One of the highlights was Michael Stout's marathon victory over Canterbury's second seed Peter French 8-10, 0-9, 9-3, 9-5, 9-7. Kyme won easily again 9-1, 9-0, 9-6, while youngest member of the Island squad James Stout and Bortoli also posted victories.

Monday's competition came from Leamington Squash Club, who provided a stiff test. Both sides won the same amount amount of matches but Bermuda came away winners as they earned one more game than their opponents.

Kyme was finally stretched by Leamington's top player but still came out on top.

Sam Stevens, number two on the Island team, played his first match of the tour but narrowly failed to pull off a win in a five-game thriller, losing 9-2, 1-9, 9-3, 2-9, 1-9.

The team were scheduled to play Leicester on Tuesday and will face a number of clubs from central England as the tour continues until August 3.
