"speculative'' reports that officers will protest policy during the holiday.

In a joint statement, Commissioner Jean-Jacques Lemay and chairman of the Bermuda Police Association Michael Jackman denied there was a rift over the on-call allowance policy.

Through a Police spokeswoman, the pair also denied there would be "some form of protest action'' by officers during the holiday season.

Compensation for officers working on December 31 will be included in the next round of contract negotiations, the Press release stated.

"The matter is in the process of being settled and will likely be resolved when negotiations for the next series of contract talks begin,'' it read.

It also noted that "above average resources'' will be available for policing over the holidays. The three divisional watches will be at maximum strength and will be supplemented by full strength specialised support units.

Other officers will be on-call as a contingency.

"For the vast majority of the Island, this holiday season will be a special one of special celebration for the entire family,'' Police said. "The Bermuda Police Service is committed to ensuring that it is enjoyed safely.''
