Latest Government figures show a 5.2 percent rise in total arrivals for the week May 10-16.

It brought the weekly total to 17,402, compared to last year's tally of 16,534.

The number of holidaymakers arriving by air went up 10.3 percent from 10,704 to 11,808.

But cruise ship passengers dipped four percent to 5,576.

Tourism arrivals are up 8.1 percent for the year, increasing 10,251 from 126,109 to 136,360.

Over that period the number of air visitors shot up by 10.9 percent to 115,112, while that for cruise ship passengers dipped 4.4 percent.

Cruise ship occupancy levels showed the Dreamward topping the list with 97.43 percent, followed by the Horizon with 94.98 percent.

Next was Meridian , Song of America , and Regent Sun with 96.88, 95.54, and 74.39 respectively.

Government also produced a graph for the 52-week moving total.

This reflected the gradual upswing in recent arrivals, from a high of nearly 440,000 in December 1990.
