The Centennial Trust, which believes in reaching out to those who need a helping hand, is committed to the initiatives being undertaken by the organisation.

The new Meals on Wheels facility in Paget will house a purpose-built kitchen and a large meeting room which can be turned into an eat-in facility when and if necessary.

In addition because of the growing administrative requirements it will provide a home base for non-profit organisation. The new centre is being financed by a building fund drive, which is currently soliciting donations from across the Island.

Centennial Trust advisor Mr. Louis Mowbray said: "We see the Trust as a vehicle for promoting a stable, well-balanced society and the Meals programme fits into that vision.

"It is valuable in helping the elderly, ill, and disabled meet their daily nutritional requirements. The programme's new headquarters will help cement Meals on Wheels into the Island's social infrastructure, and ensure that its services will continue in the future.

"We hope others will be encouraged to donate to the present fund-raising drive.'' Mr. Mowbray added that the programmes fund-raising initiatives will allow Meals on Wheels to streamline the management of its services, which is crucial to achieving its goal of delivering meals on five days of the week. Donations to the fund can be made by calling Meals on Wheels at 296-2911. Donations can also be sent to PO Box PG 02, Paget PG BX. The Centennial Trust has contributed more than $3 million to non-profit organisations dedicated to improving the quality of life in Bermuda.
