Hardy widens gap
age group of the Atlantic International Junior Tournament yesterday at Port Royal when she widened her lead to 12 strokes over Morgan McLaughlin.
The local player only had a modest 83 on the day, but with the American McLaughlin carding a 85 there was no opportunity for the latter to make any gain on the leader.
Although another American Molly Driscoll matched Hardy's score on the day, Driscoll remained in third place and two strokes behind McLaughlin.
Hardy has a score of 237 for the three rounds followed by McLaughlin on 249 and Driscoll 251.
The top four boys overall leaders played consistently during the third round with Chris Garland, Ryan Hilts and Jeff Zmayefski all firing a 78 in the 18-21 age group. Kyle Smith, who is in the 15-17 age group, also fired a 78.
Bermuda's Garland continues to lead in his division however with an overall score of 230, two strokes ahead of Hilts of the Bahamas and four ahead of the American Zmayefski.
In the 15-17 division Smith of Canada holds a comfortable lead over Bermuda's Craig Brown. Smith has an overall total of 234 while Brown trails with a 247.
The three Bermudian representatives in the recent Junior Worlds will be fighting to the finish of the 13-14 division. Robbie Spurling has a three-round total of 239 and leads Quinton Sherlock and Michael Sims by six and seven strokes respectively.
American Nathaniel Hoopes maintained his 17-shot lead in the 12-and-under-open category over Alex Fox after both players shot 45 over the back nine.
ON A ROLL -- Alisa Hardy continued to build on her lead in the girls 18-21 age group and after yesterday's play is now 12 strokes in front of Morgan McLaughlin.
