Curtis gets plum assignment

invitation by CONCACAF to officiate in the second Women's Championship tournament which is currently being held in Hempstead, Long Island.

Curtis quickly accepted the assignment and departed for New York on Tuesday and was scheduled to referee in his first game on Wednesday. The tournament is to run straight through until Sunday.

There will be three countries in addition to the host United States competing.

The others are Canada, New Zealand and Trinidad and Tobago.

The event, held at North Hempstead Town Park at Denton and Evergreen Avenue, kicked off on Wednesday with Canada meeting Trinidad and United States taking on New Zealand.

Today's double-header has Canada playing New Zealand and the United States meeting Trinidad while Sunday's final matches have Trinidad facing New Zealand and the United States going up against Canada.
