PHC trio added to national squad

join the national soccer squad which began training this week for next month's Caribbean Shell/Umbro Cup in Jamaica.

Midfielder Raynel Lightbourne, forward Kenny Mills and young defender Enwar Hunt were each extended an invitation to train with the team -- and could be called up if replacements are needed from the original squad of 32.

The trio were scheduled to turn out with the rest of the players last night at National Stadium under the supervision of recently named interim coach Clyde Best and his assistant Gary Darrell.

"We thought it would be wise to take the necessary precaution and select as many players as possible to train and prepare for the tournament, just in case there are some who cannot make it from the original squad,'' said Aldwyn Savery, chairman of the BFA's coaching committee.

All players are required to attend training sessions at National Stadium on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, starting at 6.00 p.m., and on Saturday mornings at 10.30 a.m.

Savery had previously indicated that Best would be making additions to his original squad.

The addition of the three Zebras means that PHC are now represented by six players in the squad -- the others being forwards Stanton Lewis and Otis Steede and defender Dano Outerbridge.

Also brought into the squad for training have been St. George's centreback Neil Paynter, Southampton's versatile defender Pernell Brangman and forward Kwame Tucker, also from Southampton.

CALLED UP -- midfielder Raynel Lightbourne was one of three PHC players invited this week to train with the national team.
