Bermuda 102; Papua New Guinea 103 for three

Papua New Guinea handed Bermuda a crushing seven-wicket loss with 188 balls to spare at the Jahor Cricket Academy in Malaysia today.

Any hopes Bermuda might have had of stringing together a second straight victory at the Under 19 World Cup were dashed as the Islanders capitulated at the crease after winning the toss, leaving their opponents to chase a modest total that was always going to be difficult to defend.

Only three Bermudian batsmen managed doubles figures with skipper Rodney Trott leading the way with 23 scored off 55 deliveries in a knock containing three boundaries.

Next high man was extras (19) while lower order bats Terryn Fray (ten), Malachi Jones (11) and Dennico Hollis (15) all failed to capitalise on good starts.

Hollis and Kyle Hodsoll (eight) produced Bermuda's highest partnership, adding 25 runs for the ninth-wicket as the Islanders' tail wagged. Skipper Trott and Fray put on 17 runs for the fourth wicket after the Americas champions had slipped to 29 for three, while Jones and Fray - dropped down the order to number five - added another 16 for the sixth-wicket before Bermuda's last four wickets tumbled for 33 runs.

Asked to score at a comfortable 0.16 runs per over in reply, Papua New Guinea raced to victory in only 18.4 overs with off-spinners Trott and Tamauri Tucker and seamer Jones accounting for the three wickets to fall.
