Banks lead the way

Banking and insurance proved to be the main sectors of activity on the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.
Butterfield Bank boosted its share price by five cents (0.3 percent) to close up at $16.90, with 6,841 shares traded.
A total of 20,000 shares changed hands as Argus Group Holdings Ltd.'s share value climbed 10 cents (0.7 percent) to finish on $15.
BELCO Holdings Ltd. also traded 500 shares, but its share price remained unchanged at $21.50.
The index as a whole closed up 11.80 points (0.24 percent) at 4,977.91, as 27,341 shares worth $440,045.90 changed hands throughout the day.
The BSX Insurance Index, however, dropped 1.68 percent to close at 1,196.42.
