Simons pips Richardson for BCB secretary post
Charlotte (Molly) Simons beat lawyer Charles Richardson in a close race for Bermuda Cricket Board's (BCB) vacant secretary post, writes Colin Thompson.
The long-serving Somerset Cricket Club executive edged prominent lawyer Richardson by a single vote at a Board quorum held last Tuesday night at Warwick Workman's Club and will now serve in a post she previously held for the next two years.
Simons, who declined to speak to The Royal Gazette yesterday, was first elected BCB secretary in 1998 but decided against seeking re-election seven years later to make way for lawyer Marc Wetherhill who stood down earlier this fall. It is understood Bermuda Football Association (BFA) technical committee chairman Mark Trott had also expressed interest in the post but later withdrew his nomination.
