SOCCER: Soccer First Division Shield
Somerset Eagles swooped into the next round of the First Division Shield after ruthlessly picking apart Social Club at the Den.
Eagles took a 2-0 cushion into the dressing room at the half thanks to Shawn Brown's 22nd minute strike and Marvin Iris own goal.
Social Club clawed their way back into contention when Clay Darrell pulled one back on 66 minutes.
But Eagles put the result beyond doubt after sub Roger Lee and Darin Dowling netted late to end the tie 4-1 to the good.
Elsewhere, Prospect United overpowered Paget Lions 6-1 at Wellington Oval while at Bernard Park Southampton Rangers prevailed 2-1 over St.George's Colts after extra time.
St. Davids booked their place in the second round of the Shield at the expense of Wolves courtesy of a solitary 73rd minute strike by Dijuan Paynter at BAA yesterday.
