Zebras mount spirited revival
Boulevard Blazers 2PHC Zebras 2
The Zebras made a spirited comeback to snatch a point from Blazers, but the point the two teams received from this game failed to help them improve on their positions going into the Premier Division contest at BAA field yesterday.
As a result of the fixture, Zebras continue to hold down sixth place while Blazers remain in third although they are tied on points with North Village Rams.
At BAA Blazers looked as if they were going to bury their opponents with Shaki Crockwell scoring two in the first half to give them a 2-0 lead at the break — the goals coming after 10 minutes and 20 minutes.
They had sufficient play to score as many as four times more but poor finishing led to their downfall.
The second half saw Zebras pick themselves up and come into the game with great purpose, giving Blazers’ defence plenty to worry about.
Cecoy Robinson got the inevitable opener for Zebras after 67 minutes and Chris Furbert grabbed the equaliser with a late strike three minutes from the end.
St. David’s 8 Paget Lions 1
St. David’s made a bold attempt to escape last place in the tables with a resounding seven-goal triumph over Paget Lions who are just one place ahead of them in the tables.
At Lord’s the home side’s first win of the season moved to within three points of Warriors with Fiqre Crockwell striking a hat-trick and hard-working midfielder Otis Minors scoring twice. Additional goals came from Corey Garcia, George O’Brien and Dejuan Paynter while Travis Wilkinson got the lone goal for the visitors.
The game between Dandy Town and Somerset Trojans was postponed with the field declared to be unfit for play after rain showers on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
