McLaren Smith to play 20/20 and U-19 World Cup
Seamer McLaren Smith has been named as Lemar Richardson's replacement in Bermuda Under 19's World Cup party.
The call-up means the Somerset Bridge youngster will represent his country at both the U19 World Cup in Malaysia, and the Stanford 20/20 tournament in Antigua with the senior squad.
Smith will join up with Andre Manders' men in Malaysia after the Stanford 20/20 and therefore miss the Under 19's warm-up matches in India.
All-rounder Richardson was ruled out of the World Cup last week after breaking his wrist in training. He became the second player to pull-out of the showpiece after Stefan Kelly withdrew because of school commitments.
Coach Andre Manders said: "McLaren will be coming from the 20/20 tournament where he will be on national team duty, so he won't be going to India with us. He will instead come straight out to Malaysia.
"He's a tall medium fast bowler and batsman. He was already in the 20/20 squad and we didn't want to take him out. I guess he's quite lucky as he will be going on both trips, but we know he's up to the task."
The Under 19 squad travel to India for intensive training at the World Cricket Academy in Mumbai, India, on Wednesday from where they will head to Malaysia.
