US blocks Cuba's debut

Cuba will not be able to take part in the Stanford 20/20 Caribbean cricket competition after US authorities denied the competition's organiser permission to deal with the island nation. The competition is backed by US businessman Allen Stanford and under the terms of the US embargo against Cuba, Americans must ask for special permission to engage in commercial activity with Cuban entities.

Twenty countries will compete in the knockout tournament which runs from in Antigua.

The Bermuda Cricket Board will announce the Island's squad for the January 26 to February 24 event tomorrow.

• Bermuda Under-19s' match against Clico Preysal was washed out yesterday in Trinidad due to heavy rain. Officials are hoping to reschedule the match for this Saturday.
