Sims feeling the pressure
It's do or die for pro golfer Michael Sims in today's fourth and final round of the South American Tour qualifier.
Two indifferent rounds in the middle of the 72-hole tournament have left the Bermudian in a pressure situation as he plays his last 18 holes at the Bonaventure Country Club in Florida, USA.
Following scores of 72 and 78 in his first two rounds, the rookie pro produced another 72 in yesterday's third round on perhaps one of the most bizarre days of his career.
The 23-year-old shot seven birdies but had that effort nullified by also carding a triple bogey, a double bogey and two bogeys. That left him in a two-way tie for 20th place overall with a score of six-over 222.
The website for the event indicates that "a minimum of 20 first spots or the top 25 percent of the field will qualify" to play on the South American Tour.
American Lucas Glover leads the tournament with 12-under 204 while his compatriot Ryan Dillon is one shot back. Geoff Schacher of Honduras is third on five-under.
