?They deserve so much credit?

While the players might point to Gus Logie as reason for the improvement which produced Saturday?s stunning upset over United Arab Emirates, the coach himself was quick to heap praise on the men who made it happen.

?They deserve so much credit,? said Logie as the players around him embraced each other at the end of the game.

?It was so pleasing to see this victory.

?We were down and out with the skipper (Clay Smith) injured and it showed that the players have a real mental toughness. Janeiro (Tucker) captained for the first time in this tournament and the players responded so positively.

?All credit to them, they worked very, very hard, they deserved this victory. I hope they can go from strength to strength and I think they can.?

Hardly surprisingly, Logie singled out both spinner Dwayne Leverock and big-hitting batsman Lionel Cann for special praise.

?Dwayne and I had a discussion last night. We knew he didn?t bowl as well as he could have against Ireland. But he promised to make amends, we believed him and we backed him a lot.

?We know he?s certainly our trump card as a bowler and when he?s on song, Bermuda?s cricketers are on song.

?Today he was magnificent and I think all the other bowlers take a cue from him.

?Lionel played out of this world. We call him The Finisher now.

?But you know it was just a great team effort, and it was great to see the guys enjoy this win.?

With group matches still to come against Denmark (today), Uganda (tomorrow and USA (Thursday), Logie insists ?we?re not going to rest on our laurels.

?We?re going to keep on working and hope that we?ll improve as we go along.

?We talk about processes all of the time. We?ve had some negatives along the way, some negative press, some negative results, but we know what we?ve been building up to.

?To come here today after defeat yesterday, some people might have thought we were down and out. But we knew what we were about.

?We never got bowled out against Ireland because we know eventually it could come down to run rate, we were sensible about it.

?And coming here today on this very difficult track, the players responded very well. But they realise there?s still a long way to go.?

Of his own performance, man-of-the-match Leverock said it had simply been a case of remaining patient.

?Today I was very relaxed when I went to bowl. I got my nice rhythm, on a right line at off stump. It was turning a bit. And it?s the best I?ve bowled so far on this tour,? he said.

?I knew I had to be patient. Against Ireland I think I bowled a bit too quick. Today I bowled with a nice rhythm, mixed it up and was more successful.?

As for his slip catches, Leverock added: ?Gus has worked hard with me and I just decided if I throw my body about, things will happen. And so far, so good.?
