May games go ahead?
Financing allowing, Bermuda are hoping to play two more home friendlies ahead of their vital World Cup qualifying clash with El Salvador next month.
Bermuda Football Association General Secretary David Sabir was unwilling to give the details of the proposed games ? which are in jeopardy due to a lack of funding ? but revealed that a number of countries were interested in visiting the Island for warm-up matches.
Kenny Thompson?s men already have a match scehduled against the Manchester City Academy side as part of Shaun Goater Gorassroots Festival at the start of June ? just a week before they head down to San Salvador for the first leg of their friendly against the Central American nation.
But Sabir was hoping to arrange two more games on May 28 and 30 against a visiting side, either ?a top Caribbean side? or ?a leading Central American nation?.
It is known that the BFA would prefer the latter option, although they would not reveal which nation they are in discussions with.
?The ideal situation is to play two more games here before the trip to El Salvador,? said Sabir.
?That would be the ideal, but we just have to see. Getting opponents is not a problem ? it seems that a lot of teams are interested in playing us at the moment ? but financing the trips is where it becomes difficult.?
