Smith in hospital

The coach of Premier Division title chasers Devonshire Cougars Albert Smith, is recovering in hospital after undergoing leg surgery.

The former Boulevard, Cougars and Bermuda international midfielder, whose career was shortened several years ago because of a serious leg injury, was forced to have an operation after a mishap left him in discomfort for a while with one leg shorter than the other despite having had a previous operation.

He has spent the last few years walking with a noticeable limp but Smith is hoping that that has now been corrected following the recent operation.

With his activity is limited to wheeling himself around Cooper Ward during the past few days, Smith is looking forward to being released shortly.

But it remains to be seen whether he will have any further participation on the aspirations of Cougars, currently holding down second in the league table, to snatch the coveted league title this season.

Due to the Island?s World Cup commitment in Montserrat on Sunday, the Premier Division matches featuring Dandy Town and Hamilton Parish and Southampton Rangers and North Village have been postponed.

Town and Parish will now meet next Tuesday night at BAA Field while the Rangers, Village clash has yet to be rescheduled.
