Success during blackout earns QuoVadis a spot at Toronto conference
The Island-wide power outage last July saw QuoVadis, a Bermuda-based I.T. firm specialising in security and business continuity services, prove its mettle. And now its chief security officer has been invited to tell a conference drawing 1,500, how the company did it.
QuoVadis, which has dedicated disaster recovery workspace for clients to use when catastrophes down services, was able to maintain full operations when the Bermuda Electric Light Co. explosion last year left businesses in downtown Hamilton without power for four days.
And the company?s success has now earned chief security officer Walter Cooke a spot speaking at the World Conference on Disaster Management, now in its 16th year, where he?ll outline how the company was able to be there when its clients were most in need. The conference, being held in Toronto from June 18 to 21, is attracting delegates from 50 countries.
Since last July?s power outage, QuoVadis has created a new disaster recovery centre in central Hamilton. Located in an undisclosed location, the facility can house up to 140 executives in the event of disaster disabling normal business functions.
The facility is designed to provide secure workplace and support facilities for designated clients when it becomes impossible to work from their own operations.
Aside from helping clients out last year, QuoVadis also provided disaster recovery services for hurricane-stricken companies from the Cayman Islands after the 2004 onslaught by Hurricane Ivan. And a year earlier, QuoVadis provided similar services when Hurricane Fabian hit Bermuda.
QuoVadis was founded on Bermuda in 1999, and since has founded operations in Switzerland and New Zealand. Its disaster recovery services are provided on the Island, while it offers its digital security certificate service from all its operations.
