Mae Jemison to tell her story
The first African-American woman to go into space will tell her story to hundreds of students at an event this evening.
Dr. Mae Jemison, 49, who went into orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour on September 12, 1992, will give a talk entitled ?The Sky?s the Limit? at the Bermuda Institute auditorium in Southampton at 6 p.m.
Premier Alex Scott will open the event, which is not open to members of the public. Dr. Jemison was invited to visit the Island as part of Bermuda?s second annual careers fair.
Suzanne Wilson, of AAC Saatchi & Saatchi, which is promoting the event, said: ?The talk is to about 700 middle and high school students and it?s to give them a bit of an insight into a very successful person.?
The careers fair runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 4.45 p.m on Friday at Bermuda College?s Stonington campus.
