A Pembroke man was stabbed in the back after fending off muggers on Wednesday afternoon.
The 34 year old said sometime between 2.30 p.m. and 2.45 p.m. he was walking in the area of the pre-fabricated houses in the Rambling Lane/Parsons Road area of Pembroke when he saw four men.
One of the men attempted to rob him and a scuffle ensued.
After the fight, the Pembroke man walked away but his assailant approached him from behind and stabbed him in the back.
However, his injury is not believed to be life threatening. It appears the suspect is known to the victim.
The suspect is described as a dark brown skinned male, approximately six feet tall of slim build with a short haircut. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Just 50 homes are without power four days after Hurricane Florence brushed the Island and took down electricity for 25,000 customers.
Belco said the largest number of remaining outages are in the central parishes which are the most densely populated.
Company spokesman Linda Smith-Wilson said now the strategy was to have crews working from the extreme ends of the Island inwards towards the central parishes so as east and west are cleared there were additional crews converging in the central parishes to complete the work.
She said: "We are going to continue postings on our website ? but as jobs vary in the time they take, from minutes to hours, the schedule is continually changing. "Additionally, assessors and planners are continuing to make quick fixes where they are finding opportunities to do so."
A Jamaican who jumped over a 40-foot wall after spotting Police is recovering in hospital after breaking an ankle and shattering a kneecap.
The 25-year-old man was sitting on a wall when he was approached yesterday morning by Police patrolling Glebe Road, Pembroke.
He began to act suspiciously during the officers' conversation with him then ran and jumped the wall, landing around 40 feet below in the westbound lane of Palmetto Road.
Officers administered first aid until an ambulance rushed him to hospital where he was treated for serious leg injuries.
Chairman of the Lions Club International Foundation, Dr. Ashok Mehta, met with Governor Sir John Vereker and Opposition Leader Wayne Furbert during a visit to Bermuda.
Dr. Mehta's visit from his base in Mumbai, India, was prompted by the 20th anniversary of Paget Lions Club of Bermuda, which was celebrated on Saturday. He was Lions Club International President last year.
