Former KEMH CEO Stephanie Reid under fire in her native Jamaica
A former embattled CEO of the Bermuda Hospitals Board is currently under scrutiny at a Jamaican hospital.
Stephanie Reid was the CEO of the Bermuda Hospitals Board at the time of the 2003 Kurron Report in Bermuda.
The report found that Mrs. Reid lacked leadership, said their was little communication between managers and staff and that many managers did not know specifically what their responsibilities were.
It recommended that Mrs. Reid be replaced.
After leaving Bermuda in May 2003, she went on to work as CEO of the University Hospital of West Indies, in Kingston, Jamaica.
Last week Radio Jamaica reported Mrs. Reid allegedly resigned at a board meeting after "evidence" was produced which proved she was connected to companies called Cyto Histo Path research centre and Consumables Direct.
Previously, accusations were levelled at Mrs. Reid that the companies benefited from contracts with the hospital.
She has also been accused of mismanaging the operations at the University Hospital.
However, Mrs. Reid denied that she resigned from her position. The board is expected to make a public statement on the matter.
Radio Jamaica also reported that Mrs. Reid was "axed" from her position at the BHB after the Kurron report came out recommending she be replaced.
However, at the time BHB chairman Jonathan Brewin said she was not fired. He said she was replaced by Bermudian Joan Dillas-Wright six months before her contract was due to expire.
Mr. Brewin said he had not seen the Kurron report when he made the decision to remove her shortly after he took over.
