Ire. Rangers 0 Dandy Town 5

Ireland Rangers' hopes of upstaging their Premier Division rivals quickly faded as they suffered a resounding 5-0 defeat at Malabar yesterday.

Goals from David Burchall, Reggie Tucker, Darron Simons, second half substitute Mark Trott and captain Lionel Furbert put paid to any FA Cup aspirations Rangers might have had.

The visitors took the match to their less fancied opponents from the onset and opened their account in the ninth minute through David Burchall after a blunder by Rangers defender Dwane DeRosa enabled the veteran to beat goalkeeper- Ricardo Tucker with low, firm drive from just outside the 18 yard box.

Devon Binns should have increased the Hornets lead moments later, but instead he blasted his effort harmlessly wide while at the other end diminutive forward Anthony Burchall tried to get one over big brother David, but his shot from eight yards did little to worry Town's Jason Smith who enjoyed a relatively quiet afternoon between the sticks.

At this juncture, the sparse Town following anxiously anticipated the opening of the floodgates but another goal didn't arrive until Reggie Tucker scored the visitors' second moments before the half via the spot after visiting English referee Dave Richardson had penalised Rangers for a handball.

Rangers enjoyed their best moments midway through the second half when DeRosa saw a 30-yard whistler brilliantly covered by Smith and striker Jermaine Saltus wasted a great opportunity when afforded a good view of goal.

This turned out to be Rangers' last stand as Simons was on hand to tap in Town's third goal in the 70th minute, promptly followed by sub Trott, who helped himself to an early birthday present with his team's fourth and captain Furbert, who closed out the drubbing with a fifth goal.

MR Onions 2 St. George's 5

Visitors St. George's Colts overcame an early scare to record their biggest win of the season as striker Mackie Crane completed a hat-trick just before the final whistle.

Commercial side Onions had a dream start when they took the lead from the penalty spot in the seventh minute but after that it was virtually all one-way traffic as the Premier Division side showed their superiority.

Rael Coen earned the penalty for Onions when he was knocked over from behind by Ryan Steede just as he was shaping up to shoot inside the box. Striker Richard Helm converted the spot kick.

The equaliser came 11 minutes later through Sinclair Gibbons from the penalty spot after another foul inside the box.

Two more goals by the 32nd minute put St. George's in control as the difference in skill level and fitness showed.

Midfielder Ernest Signor put St. George's in front in the 24th minute when he scored with a volley from an angle inside the box following a pass from Herbie Bascome.

Onions went even further behind eight minutes later when Yuseff Pitt chipped a cross into the box from the right and Crane planted his far post header past `keeper Dalibor Matovina.

Bascome's passing in midfield was a key for St. George's and in the 64th minute they added their fourth when a cross from the right by Steede saw Crane score with another header. But just a minute later MR Onions pulled the score back to 4-2 when Paul Coates spotted Troy Hall off his line and scored from all of 40 yards out on the left side.

Gibbons smashed a shot against the crossbar at the other before St. George's scored the best of their five goals in the closing seconds when Kyle Williams sent in a perfect cross from the left and Crane volleyed in a low shot to complete his hat-trick.
