Clevie Wade hopes to take Premier Division 50 Overs title contenders Cleveland County “to the next level” during a stint at the helm as coach.

The former St George’s and Bermuda all-rounder was recently announced as coach of the Harris Bay club after agreeing to the terms of an undisclosed deal.

“It’s nice to be back on the coaching scene from a few years’ break,” Wade told The Royal Gazette.

“Cleveland is a community club that are looking to go farther, trying to go the next level. It’s going to be a process and I am willing to help them out and try to get them a winning mentality and take them to the next level.”

Wade comes highly qualified after winning numerous titles during his time as coach of Southampton Rangers. He also served as coach of the Bermuda Under-19 team.

Najee Musson, the Cleveland president, believes Wade is the right man for the job.

“I think Clevie will be a good asset to the team and we are looking forward to what he brings,” he said.

“I think somebody of his calibre will definitely bring the cricket programme at Cleveland County to where we want it to be.”

Unbeaten Cleveland are second in the title race, with three rounds remaining in the competition, behind leaders Bailey’s Bay, who have also yet to lose.

“So far I think we are doing good,” Musson added. “Now it comes down to the last three games where we really have to show what we came to bring this season.”

Cleveland will play winless St David’s at Lord’s tomorrow, with Warwick facing Southampton Rangers at Southampton Oval and Western Stars and St George’s locking horns at North Field, National Sports Centre.

Flatts will take on Bermuda Under-19 in the First Division 50 Overs competition at North Field today.

The remaining First Division 50 Overs matches tomorrow will feature Somerset Bridge hosting leaders Somerset at White Hill Field while Devonshire Rec are at home to Willow Cuts at Devonshire Recreation Club.
