Taxi owners, drivers to hold emergency meetings
The Bermuda Taxi Owners and Operators Association will host two meetings next week to discuss “growing concerns” over the pending introduction of ride-share services.
The first meeting will be held at 7pm on Wednesday at Christ Church, Devonshire and will be open to all public service vehicle owners, both members and non-members.
A BTOA statement said the meeting will serve as a platform for industry-wide feedback on how ride-share proposals may affect livelihoods, safety standards and service quality.
The second meeting, taking place at 7pm next Thursday will be open to BTOA members only.
The statement said that internal strategiesand actions will be finalised in response to the concerns raised by the wider industry.
It added that both meetings aim to gather input to inform BTOA’s official advocacy strategy and actions moving forward.
A BTOA spokesman said: “We are calling on all public service vehicle owners and BTOA members to stand together, speak up and help shape the response to legislation that could alter Bermuda’s transport landscape.
“The BTOA reaffirms its commitment to representing the interests of Bermuda’s professional taxi and PSV industry through consultation, action and collaboration.”
