Fuel leak at hospital car park
Clean-up efforts were under way this afternoon after a fuel leak from a new generator at the acute care wing’s visitor car park at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
The Bermuda Hospitals Board said the leak was from the auxiliary tank of the generator, which is the responsibility of Paget Health Services.
It advised residents to follow directions if they are visiting the hospital while the clean-up is completed.
The BHB said the generator is the responsibility of PHS through the public private partnership with board.
PHS will carry out an investigation to determine what caused the leak and any repair works needed will be covered as part of the contract with the BHB.
The BHB said the new generator was constructed this year.
“As it has yet to start operating, the ACW is still supported by its existing two generators so there is no potential impact to service delivery,“ the BHB added.
