Young entrepreneurs take centre stage at expo
Young entrepreneurs were offered a chance to showcase their businesses at an event to mark International Youth Day.
The Youth Entrepreneur Expo at Pier 6, organised by the Office of Youth Affairs, was designed to serve as a vendors market for industrious people under the age of 24.
The event on Sunday was inspired by I’Aura Golding, a summer intern at the office, who — while conducting research for the youth development team — came across the idea and pitched it to the wider team.
International Youth Day is marked annually on August 12.
Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, said: “Our youth are leading with purpose, driving change within their schools, communities and across the island.
“From environmental activism to mental health awareness, entrepreneurship to education equity, Bermuda’s young people are demonstrating bold leadership aligned with the sustainable development goals.
“As a ministry, we are committed to amplifying their efforts and ensuring they have the support, resources and platforms needed to thrive, not only today but for generations to come.”
Ms Furbert praised the work of the TOYA’s youth development team for providing opportunities for young people and leading by example.
