And magistrate the Wor. John Judge was awarded some $6,000 in damages stemming from a "violent attack'' on him outside Magistrates' Court.

The two awards were among 25 made by the Criminal Injuries (Compensation) Board this year.

Almost $500,000 in damages was handed out to people who have been victims of violent crime in the past few years, the Board announced on Friday. The money was drawn from Government's annual budget.

A woman raped at knifepoint and a number of stabbing victims and people beaten with baseball bats were also on the list.

Mr. Gregory Armstrong, stabbed in the neck and chest on December 26, 1989, received $24,504.82 for pain and suffering, loss of earnings, legal fees and special damages.

Mr. Vernon Tuzo, stabbed in the chest and arms on February 11, 1991, received $3,825 for pain and suffering and special damages.

Mr. Paul Darrell, beaten on February 2, 1990 with a blunt instrument in the face, legs and shoulder, where steel plates had to be inserted, received $18,430 for pain and suffering, loss of earnings, legal fees and special damages.

Mr. Roger Williams, stabbed in the stomach area on July 21, 1990, received $6,852 for special damages, loss of earnings, pain and suffering and legal fees.

Ms Dionne Ivy Mills, struck in the face with a bottle by her ex-boyfriend on July 22, 1990 and left with visible facial scarring, received $14,234 for pain and suffering, special damages, loss of earnings and legal fees.

Mr. Lewis Harrison, punched in the face on May 11, 1991, received $4,600 for pain and suffering and legal fees.

Mr. Gareth Davies, bitten on the arm on June 30, 1992, by a man with the AIDS virus and seriously injured as he tried to arrest him, received $6,500 for pain and suffering, legal fees and special damages.

The Wor. John Judge, who suffered a broken arm and gash to the nose in a "violent attack'' on July 1, 1991, received $6,057.

Mr. Aaron Woolridge, beaten in the head and legs with a baseball bat on April 15, 1991, received $29,640 for special damages, loss of earnings, pain and suffering and legal fees.

"M'', beaten and raped at knifepoint on January 16, 1990, received $15,161 for pain and suffering and special damages.

Mr. David Tucker, slashed on his arms and hands with a machete on November 28, 1990, received $34,439 for loss of earnings, special damages, pain and suffering and legal fees.

Mr. Howard Casely, a police officer who suffered a severe injury to his knee on December 30, 1990, when a youth on a motorcycle kicked him causing him to fall to the ground, received $4,449 for loss of earnings, special damages and pain and suffering.

The young daughter of Mr. Glenn Hall, Jr., stabbed to death on May 15, 1991, received $44,200 -- most of which is to be held in trust until she is 18. And $4,500 was awarded to the family for funeral expenses and legal fees.

Mr. Leon Butterfield, a taxi passenger who was attacked with a bottle during an argument between his cabbie and another man on August 27, 1991, received $2,388 for special damages, loss of earnings and pain and suffering.

The wife and child of Mr. Daniel Augustus III, stabbed to death two years ago, received $52,500 which included $800 for legal fees and $2,675 for funeral expenses.

Mr. Neville Somner, Jr., suffered injuries to his legs during a fight with an intruder in his home on March 31, 1991, received $1,500 for pain and suffering and legal fees.

The two children of Michael Astwood, stabbed to death on March 19, 1992, received $52,500 to be held in trust until they are 18.

Mr. Derek Furbert Jr., stabbed 13 times in the chest and lost some teeth on April 7, 1991, received $17,842 for special damages, loss of earnings, pain and suffering and legal fees.

Ms Julie Winstanley, who suffered facial scarring after being punched in the face on September 1, 1991, received $5,573 for loss of earnings, special damages and pain and suffering.

Mr. Mervin Warner, a security guard attacked with a machete while making a deposit in a bank vault on May 9, 1991, received $19,640 for pain and suffering, loss of wages, special damages and legal fees.

Mr. Briane Jones, beaten with a baseball bat on July 3, 1991, received $12,028 for special damages and pain and suffering.

Mr. John Aguiar, who sustained eye and facial injuries during a bottle fight at a Front Street nightclub last year, received $12,523 for special damages, loss of earnings, general damages, pain and suffering and legal fees.

Mr. Mervin Curtis, who suffered a broken jaw on November 20, 1991, received $6,586 for special damages, loss of earnings and pain and suffering.

Ms Crystal Pearman, who was stabbed and suffered permanent damage to an arm on October 13, 1991, received $70,000 for special damages, loss of earnings, pain and suffering and legal fees.
