Motorcyclist injured in ‘serious’ Southampton crash
A male motorcyclist has sustained head injuries after a “serious” single-vehicle crash on Middle Road in Southampton.
The Bermuda Police Service said at about 5.25pm on Friday, officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel attended the scene of the crash which involved a livery cycle on Middle Road, near its junction with Raynor’s Drive, Southampton.
On arrival, officers ascertained that the rider, a 51-year-old male guest worker from the United States, was travelling in a westerly direction along Middle Road.
Upon nearing the Raynor’s Gas Station, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and fell on to the roadway.
The rider, who sustained serious head injuries and was unresponsive, was attended by EMTs and later transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
He was receiving treatment for his injuries which were considered life-threatening.
The police thanked the public for co-operating while the roadway was closed.
Traffic was diverted for approximately two hours while the crash scene was being processed, the spokesman said.
