Changemakers invited to show interest in Pride planning team
An expanded event team and amended schedule have been announced for Bermuda Pride 2026 by its organiser.
OutBermuda said that its aim was to make sure that the festival continues to grow as a celebration as well as a catalyst for change.
The altered team structure is to include “paid event planning and refined volunteer leadership opportunities for people passionate about building a Bermuda where everyone belongs”.
Joshua Samuels, the executive director of OutBermuda, said: “Pride is more than an event, it’s a movement.
“Every year, it brings hundreds of people together to celebrate visibility, love and belonging.
“We’re building a team that reflects Bermuda’s diversity and shares a commitment to equity and inclusion — people who want to make a real, tangible difference.”
The charity is dedicated to advocacy, education and community care programmes for LGBTQ+ people and allies throughout the year.
It explained that the restructured Pride team will include three core event planning lead positions, each overseeing two packages of experiences: the rally, concert and parade, the night party and drag brunch, and the panel discussion and open mike night.
It added: “New this year, some events, such as the panel discussion, will now take place during International Pride Month in June.
“The remaining Pride events will take place between July 2 and 5, with the rally, parade and concert taking place on July 4.
“In addition, several volunteer leadership roles are available, including logistics lead, community engagement and volunteer lead, fundraiser, and Harbour Nights lead.
“Each will be compensated with stipends in recognition of the time and energy required to make Bermuda Pride a success.”
The positions are open to LGBTQ+ people and allies, “with the goal of building a collaborative, inclusive and representative team that embodies OutBermuda’s values of equity, respect and community care”, the organiser said.
Anyone interested in being part of the 2026 Bermuda Pride team was encouraged to e-mail a résumé and cover letter to Jamie@iep.bm.
